Ku Klux Klan
Some busy bodies called by the Sentinel “Ku Klux Klan,” have been holding meetings at the old court house in Andrew to “consider the condition of our county,” and “to devise some plan for enforcing the laws and punishing the county thieves.” In other words, these gentlemen desire to organize a “vigilance committee.” It is our opinion that it is too late to attempt to rule this county by mob law. The courts are amply able to punish “county thieves” or any other malefactors, including persons who attempt to organize mobs.

The Andrew “Kuklux” have defined their position. They have no idea of resorting to violent measures to punish wrongdoers. They will sustain the courts. They see in recent events an opportunity for practice in the art of buncombe oratory about the majesty of law, and so forth, and an occasion to give vent to some harmless flapdoodle denunciatory of thievery in Jackson county, and all that, of which they have availed themselves. Now that it is understood the “Kuklux” are simply a debating society of a unique pattern, we trust all will breathe freer.
