Saturday morning a preliminary meeting was held in the office of James Ellis for the purpose of organizing a Jackson County Historical Society. James Ellis, Harvey Reid and Oce Goodenow, were made a committee to draft constitution and report same at a meeting to be held at the office of D. A. Fletcher, Wednesday evening. At this meeting the attendance was not large on account of the rain, and after the report of the committee was accepted, and adjournment was taken until next Thursday evening, at the same time and place. The object of this society is a worthy one and it should meet with prompt encouragement.
