MURDER AT BELLEVUE-
HORRIBLE TRAGEDY: We learn of Mr. Thomas Nicholson of Bellevue that a most horrible tragedy was enacted in that town on the morning of the 18th. A man named Barger killed his wife under the following circumstances. She had applied for a bill of divorce which coming on at the term of the District Court held there last week, had on application been changed for trial to Jones county. Without anything occurring between them subsequently to occasion so diabolical an act, Barger posted himself so as to command the door of the house where his wife was staying and when on Monday morning she came in he shot her dead in her tracks and immediately gave himself up boasting of the hellish deed. The parties formerly lived near Canton. - Dubuque Herald.
