Last week a former citizen of this place, Mr. Abijah Bickford, was granted a divorce from his wife, Margaret Bickford, by Hon. A. J. House, judge at Maquoketa, Iowa, on the ground of desertion. The evidence of the witnesses showed that Mrs. Bickford deserted her husband without cause more than 30 years ago, and that her whereabouts have been unknown ever since. Mr. Bickford now lives at Monmouth, Jackson county, and as he is only 79 years of age he may go into the field of matrimony again. W. W. Welch was Mr. Bickford's attorney at Maquoketa.
