Maquoketa Record, June 25, 1907:
Charles Sawdy met with a painful accident on Friday morning last. While unloading a piece of ice from the ice wagon he runs at Sear's restaurant the team started up suddenly throwing him to the ground. In falling he came in contact with something that badly tore the flesh on his arm it being necessary to take many stiches in it to close up the wound. The member is badly swollen and Mr. Sawdey is confined to his home and bed a part of the time. It is a regretable accident. Dr. Riggs is the attending physician and promises to have Charles at work again soon.
