Jackson Sentinel, June 8, 1945:
Corporal Caraway Liberated as Nazi Prisoner of War.
Cpl. Lawrence D. Caraway, who has been a German prisoner since Feb. 17, 1943, has recently been liberated and will be returned to Ft. Sheridan, Illinois, according to word received by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. James Caraway, of Monmouth.
Cpl. Caraway was the first draftee from Brandon Township in May, 1941, and was sent to the European Theatre in 1942. It is expected that he will return home some time next month.
