Maquoketa Excelsior, April 1, 1930:
"Who's Who In America", the individual publication that annually lists the history-making Americans includes the name of a former Maquoketan, now a successful lawyer in Omaha.
Norris Brown is the one so distinguished. He was born in this city, May 2, 1863, attended school here and later graduated from the State University of Iowa. Nebraska citizens conferred the honor of United States Senator to him for six years during 1907-1913.
Many Maquoketans will remember her former senator Brown, who returned to this city of his birthplace several years after his departure to entertain his one time neighbors and associates from the Chautauqua platform.
