Jackson Sentinel, July 27, 1899:
Beach & Bowers full company will arrive this week prepatory to their departure, Aug. 3rd for the season on the road. There are 32 people with this popular and successful minstrel troupe who are favorably known throughout the United States. Their band will consist of about twenty pieces with Dick Platt as leader and a better musician its hard to find. Maquoketa will feel specially favored with an evening concert either upon the street or the east park by courtesy of Messrs. Beach & Bowers band. Our home band is furnishing the music every Thursday evening, but we could appreciate a little music from Beach & Bowers band say about Saturday night.
