Maquoketa Record, December 26, 1906:
Historical Society.
The Historical Society of Jackson County met on Friday evening of last week. Curator J.W.Ellis made his report which was most satifactory showing the affairs of the Society to be in a healthful and flourishing condition. Officers were elected as follows: Dr. G.M.Johnson, W.C.Gregory and James Fairbrother, directors for three years. B.A.Spencer director for one year. The board of directors elected, Pres., G.L.Mitchell; Vice-President, Harry Littell; Treas., Harvey Reid; Secretary and Curator J.W.Ellis. The Society is doing much to keep the records straight and preserve the early history of eastern Iowa.
