CELEBRATE 68 YEARS OF MARRIAGE

The 68th wedding anniversary of Gottlieb and Meta Beck of Maquoketa was celebrated Thursday afternoon, June 6, with a small family gathering. It was held in the extended care unit of the Jackson County Public Hospital where Mrs. Beck is a patient. She and her husband will both be 89 this year.

Gottlieb Beck and Meta Petersen were married June 6, 1906 at St. John's Lutheran Church, Preston, the first couple to be married in the church after it was built. They have been engaged in farming in rural Maquoketa for many years.

The couple have two sons, Howard and Glenn, both of Maquoketa and two daughters, Mrs. Harvey (Dorothy) Gruenwald of Delmar and Mrs. Dennis Lawrence (Eleanor) Lawrence of Clinton; 10 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
