Maquoketa Record, July 18, 1906:
Savanna Times:
A twenty pound rock sturgeon, one of the largest of its peculiar kind ever caught in the Eagle Point District, was taken from the Mississippi near Maquoketa chute by John Bradley, a Dubuque man, who is sojourning up the river. The fish was nosing around a set line and in attempting to lash some bait off with his tail, became fast in a hook and later became well entangled up in other hooks. It proved a game fighter and put up a defense before it was landed.
