Maquoketa Record, July 18, 1906:
The division of Iowa Union Veterans Union held their 10th annual meeting in Davenport, Thursday, July 12, 1906. The encampment was opened by division commander Gen'l J.H.Shaw, of Davenport with an appropriate address. On motion of Gen'l J.W.Ellis of Maquoketa, all members present in good standing were declared eligible to seats and vote. Gen'l Shaw was unanimously elected to succeed himself as division commander. Gen'l J.W.Ellis was named for first deputy commander and was unanimously elected by standing vote. Z.S.Patterson of Maquoketa was elected to the executive committee, Gen'l J.W.Ellis was selected for installing officers.
