Sabula Man To Be Ordained A Priest April 23(1949).
Sabula, April 20. The second son of Mr. and Mrs. J.H.Fisher of Sabula to enter the Catholic priesthood, the Rev. Dale E. Fisher, will be ordained at St. Mary's Seminary, Techny, Ill, Saturday, April 23, The Most Rev William A. O'Brien, Auxiliary Bishop of Chicago, will officiate. The young priest will be assigned to the foreign missions of the Society of the Divine Word. An older brother, the Rev. Bernard Fisher, missionary of the same order is now in New Guinea.
Father Fisher will celebrate his first solemn high mass in St. Peter's Church, Sabula, May 1st. The Right Rev. Msgr. Joseph E. Linkenmeyer, pastor of St. Joseph's Church, Bellevue, will be assistant priest, and the Rev. F.C. Bahning of Bellevue will serve as master of ceremonies.
The Rev. William C. Kunsch and the Rev. Karl Klein, both of Loras College, Dubuque, will be deacon and subdeacon respectively. The Rev. Elwyn Biere of St. Peter's will direct the choir and the sermon to be delivered by Rev. Fr. Wrocklage, S.V.D., of Techny. Fr. Fisher, 26, was born in Yankton, S.D. He received his clerical training at St. Paul's missionary house at Epworth, Sacred Heart College, Girard, Pa., and St. Mary's at Techny. (Maquoketa Community Press, April 21, 1949.)
