OMA L. RIPPLE
Graveside services will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Mount Hope Cemetery, Maquoketa, for Oma L. RIPPLE, 85, of Maquoketa who died Wednesday at Maquoketa Care Center.
Rev. Clair Odell of the United Methodist church will officiate. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. today at the Carson Funeral Home, Maquoketa.
Mrs. RIPPLE was born April 21, 1908 in Jackson County to C. James and Fannie WHITMORE BECK. She married Lester RIPPLE Oct. 19, 1926, in Maquoketa. He died Jan 11, 1943.
She was engaged in farming with her husband for many years in Maquoketa, and also was one of the first Bell Telephone switchboard operators in Maquoketa. She was an avid gardener and enjoyed quilting, weaving, and music, and she loved to travel.
Survivors includes two daughters, Lois Marie RIPPLE, of Maquoketa and Mrs. Curtis (Florence) STEENBURGEN of Warsaw, Mo.; two sons, James RIPPLE of Decorah, Ia., and Ronald RIPPLE of Maquoketa,; six grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and a brother Donald BECK of Maquoketa.
She was preceded in death by a sister.
Death date: Aug. 11, 1993
