GLADYS R. HOFFMAN APPOINTED JACKSON COUNTY ASSESSOR
Maquoketa, Iowa
Mrs. Gladys Raab Hoffman was reappointed Jackson County Assessor by the county conference board at its session here last week. The conference board consists of the county supervisors, members of the county board of education and mayors of all towns in the county.
At the beginning of the meeting Fred G. Cornelius was elected chairman of the session. Mayor Harold Goetz of Bellevue moved that Mrs. Hoffman be reappointed assessor with Carlton Reed of the board of education. seconding the motion. Mrs. Hoffman was the only applicant.
It was agreed that the annual salary for the assessor be set at $3,600. Wages for extra help for the assessor's office were set at a minimum of four dollars per day and a maximum of five dollars per day.
A three man committee was appointed to set up the office budget, to include Supervisor Leo Henningsen, Mayor Harold Goetz and Carlton Reed, chairman of the county board of education.
