REV. WENDLING TO BE NAVY CHAPLIN

BELLEVUE- Members of St. Joseph's Church, Bellevue met at the school building Sunday evening as a farewell courtesy to the Rev. Louis E. Wendling, who leaves Thursday for William and Mary College, Williamsburg, Virginia, to begin training as a Chaplain in the Navy. The Very Rev. J. E. Linkenmeyer was in charge of the program and spoke very highly of Father Wendling as his assistant, who will serve in the Navy as a Lieutenant.. Paul Kempter spoke on behalf of the members of the parish and thanked Father Wendling for his untiring work among the members of the congregation. Mayor G. J. Bittner presented Father Wendling with a purse from the parsh and Father Linkenmeyer presented a purse from the members of the Young Ladies Sodality of which Father Wendling was the director. Father Wendling responded. Vocal numbers by the girls' quartet were well received and Margaret Michel read an original poem dedicated to Father Wendling.
