Bellevue Leader, June 11, 1888, reprinted in the Jackson Sentinel, June 21, 1888
Mrs. Mary Sublette, Bellevue’s oldest settler now living, was a pleasant caller last Monday. She came to Bellevue with her husband, John Sublette, in 1837-fifty-one years ago and has resided here continuously ever since. She was here at the time of the Bellevue War on the first day of April, 1840, and in part an eye-witness of that violent and bloody drama.
