G. L. Johnson Appointed Referee In Bankruptcy.

Hon. G. L. Johnson was appointed referee in bankruptcy for Jackson County. The appointment was made by Judge Shiras of Dubuque, judge of the United States court and a Republican, who made the appointment entirely independent of politics and on recommendation of the bar of various counties. Mr. Johnson was the only applicant who circulated his petition among the members of the bar in this city and therefore was almost unanimously recommended.
