From the Bellevue Leader, Jan. 26, 1882

Col. Warren returned home from Des Moines last Saturday well pleased with his trip, and better pleased with the enthusiastic reception and splendid treatment which he and the other members of the convention reunion received from the people of that city. The Colonel was the recipient of many honors, and much distinguished attention while in Des Moines. He was looked upon as one of the fathers of the state as well as its most excellent constitution whose model has been copied so often by other states and territories of the Union. Ex-Senator Wright made the welcoming speech and a magnificent effort it was, too – well worthy of the grand old man who made it. The members while in Des Moines were treated to balls, receptions and other social entertainments, and were otherwise honored in every possible way. We wish we had space to tell more about the way Iowa honors her well tried public servants and patriot sons.
