Benjamin Harrison-
Quite a pleasant surprise was given Mr. Benjamin Harrison on Monday evening last, the object being the celebration of his 80th birthday. Many of the old pioneers were present, among whom were John E. Goodenow, the founder and nester of our little city. Mr. Harrison, we believe, came to Maquoketa from Welton in 1851, and has most assiduously pursued his calling(cabinet making) for the past 33 years, barely losing a day, and by his untiring industry has built up a business second to none in the state. We sincerely hope Mr. Harrison will live to celebrate his Centennial birthday.
