Jackson Sentinel, Oct. 15, 1891.

Our Candidate for Representative

Hon. N. B. Nemmers, member from Jackson of the House of Representatives of the 23rd General Assembly of the State of Iowa, and Democratic candidate for re-election to that office, will enter upon his duties with a clearer understanding of them and which he will perform with his usual faithfulness.

The subject of this sketch is German American and was born in Prairie Springs township, this county, March 15, 1852. He worked on the farm up to the age of eighteen, when he entered St. Francis College, Milwaukee, Wis., from which he was graduated in 1873. After leaving college he followed teaching until 1882, when he engaged in the mercantile business, in which he has been quite successful.

He has held many offices of importance at the hands of his neighbors and friends, the duties of which he always discharged honestly and conscientiously; among them that of tax collector, member of school board, assessor, member of council, city mayor of LaMotte and postmaster are numbered. He has always been of staunch democratic principles.
