Dr. F. A. Packard.

Dr. Packard, a young physician who settled in Monmouth a few months since, is rapidly building up a reputation for skill and success. On Monday he assisted Dr. Bowen in a very difficult surgical operation, that was in every way successful, an account of which is given in another column. Dr. Packard is rapidly gaining practice. His card can be found in this paper.

F. A. Packard
Physician and Surgeon, Monmouth, Iowa. Attends all professional calls.

Surgical.

On Monday, Dr. Bowen, assisted by Dr. Packard, of Monmouth, performed the delicate operation of removing a cancer from the person of Mrs. Harris, a lady over seventy years of age, residing three miles west of this city. The removal of the cancer made it necessary to cut away the entire right breast- more than a pound in weight. On one so aged as Mrs. Harris, this is a very dangerous operation, but it being the only means of saving her life, the doctors undertook the case and succeeded admirably. Up to the time of going to press Mrs. Harris is doing well.
