Wagon train to Iowa

GILBERT

My great grandfather William Byron Gilbert was apparently born on a wagon train of farmers from Fond Du Lac County, Wisconsin to Osage, Iowa. (His article says Osage county)
They left in Feb 1871
He was born on or about march 9 1871.

His wagon caravan attempted to cross the Mississippi River on the ice but due to the weather conditions had to wait. He was born on the east bank of the river.

His family stayed in Iowa for 5 years and then he moved back to Iowa in 1891.

I am unable to find any information on anyone else in the caravan. His birth was never registered. I am looking for any help identifying anyone else in the caravan or his parents.

Thank you
