August 11, 1888 --- January 10, 1964Mrs. Bruno Staelens Dies Friday Night After Long Illness
Mrs. Bruno Staelens, 75, a resident of this community all her life, died Friday night at the Watts convalescent home in Marengo. She had been in failing health for six years and had been bedfast for three months prior to her death.Funeral services were held Monday forenoon at St. Mary's Catholic church with Fr. J. J. Gaule officiating. Casket bearers were Carl Ahlberg, Earl O'Neill, Melvin Ahlberg, Eugene Tanner, Arnold Trimpe, Clark Heitman. Music for the service was provided by St. Mary's choir. Burial was in St. Mary's cemetery.
Daughter of John and Mary Fetzer, Elizabeth Mary Helena Fetzer was born in Pilot township Aug 11, 1888. She was married to Bruno Staelens April 15, 1912. She was a member of St. Mary's church and of the Altar and Rosary society. Surviving are her husband; one daughter, Mrs. Ivan D. (Geraldine) Sperry of Cedar Rapids; one granddaughter; one brother, Frank Fetzer of Williamsburg.
