Searching where my grand father was staying in Iowa

Hallo.
Can you help me to find out where my grand father stayed when he was working in Iowa between 1888 and 1894.
Name: Severin Olsen Furunes( Furenes). Born 5. oktober 1866 in Norway.
Maybe Furunes can be spelled Furenes also. His full name when baptised was: Severin Herkules Olsen Furunes ( Furenes).
We are planning a trip to USA in september2014 and it would be nice to visit the place where he stayed. My sister says that maybe he was working at the railway. I am grateful if you can help me because I don`t find it myself.
