Almost missed your query in the Iowa mailing list because no surname was listed in the subject line. Anyway, Arthur's father was actually Thomas Harvey Swezey, Jr., son of Thomas Harvey Swezey, my ggggrandfather, and his wife Thankful Ann Clark. The last two migrated from New York to Iowa around 1857-1858 with their 10 children, of whom Thomas Jr was the 8th. Arthur is the only child I have listed for Thomas Jr. This branch of the Swezey family has been traced back to Joel Swezey of Long Island, who left there in 1810 to move to the "new country" (all the way to Cayuga Co, New York). There were a lot of Swezeys in Long Island at the time, but no one has successfully found Joel's parents. I would refer you to sweezey.net for more information (not all of it accurate, but it will give you an idea of how widespread the Swezeys are/were). Some of Sweezey's info is from me and I have more if you want it.

I visited the graves of Thomas, Thankful and their eldest daughter (also Thankful) just outside of Marengo IA a few years ago.
