George Armstead

Enlisted Man From Holbrook Died at Minneapolis

George Armstead died at Minneapolis last week. The body was brought to Holbrook on Saturday and the funeral services were held in the afternoon at St. Michael's church. Father Moriarty had charge of the services and the sermon delivered for the occasion was well received. A large gathering was present, and the interment was in the adjacent cemetery beside the bodies of the parents who died many years ago.

George Armstead was born at Denver, Colorado, thirty-four years ago; he came to the Holbrook neighborhood when but a child, and it was here that he spent practically all his life; Last July he enlisted in the regular army of the U.S. and was stationed at Fort Snelling until his last illness. He was never married and leaves one sister, Mrs. T. E. Hanson of Rural 2, as the sole mourner; he was a good man, and his early death is regretted by many, and the name of the soldier will long remain fresh in the old neighborhood of Holbrook.
