WESLEY CHARLES BARKER

Wesley Charles Barker who had made his home in and around Victor for more than fifty years, passed away at his home here after a short illness last Friday evening, Sept. 13, 1918. Mr Barker was born in Essex county, New York, on Jan. 4 1848, and was seventy years, eight months and nine days old at the time of his death.

He came to Iowa in 1865 and settled in Victor and was united in marriage on Jan 1, 1868 to Miss Eliza Gwin. To this union were born ten children, four of whom, Mrs. J.W. Atkinson, Mrs. V.C. Mohr, Mrs. H. G. Cristin and Charles Barker, together with his wife, survive him. He also leaves many other relatives and a host of friends who will mourn his death. Mr. Barker was engaged in business and farming for a number of years and served more than fifteen years in the mail service as a carrier.

Funeral services were held at the M.E. Church Sunday afternoon, Sept 15, conducted by Rev. J.F. Rex. Interment took place in the I.O.O.F. cemetery.
