Ardath E. Davis, was born October 15, 1939, at her grandparents home, West of Williamsburg, to Ivan and Geraldine Sperry. Her parents moved to Marion, where she attended Rosedale & Spring Brook, a one room school, and later moved to Cedar Rapids where she graduated from Immaculate Conception School in 1957. After graduation, Ardath worked for 22 years as a secretary and bookkeeper for Iowa Electric Light and Power Company, Cedar Rapids Ceramic Tile and assistant manager for Commercial Credit. She moved to Marengo in 1976 and was employed at Pioneer Hi-Bred International, Inc for 22 years as a secretary and shipping coordinator. Ardath was united in marriage to Keith Davis on November 21, 1984. Together they enjoyed the outdoors and spending time on the dune buggy, motorcycle, deer and coyote hunting and fishing trips to Canada. Ardath was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Williamsburg. She raised mastiffs, which she enjoyed training and showing. She also enjoyed dancing, bowling, playing pool and going on casino trips. She was an independent, caring and loyal friend. Ardath died on Saturday, March 30, 2024, at the Rose Haven Nursing Home in Marengo, Iowa, at the age of 84 years.

She is survived by her step children Lee Davis, and Lisa Popelka; four step grandchildren Bailee, Jacob, Cassidy and Alex; and two step great grandchildren Ayla & Freya. She was preceded by her parents and husband Keith.

Funeral Mass will be held 10:30 am on Thursday, April 4, 2024, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Williamsburg. Burial will follow in the St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery, Williamsburg. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, from 5-7 pm, with a rosary service at 4:30 pm at the Powell Funeral Home in Williamsburg. Memorials may be given to Safe Haven of Iowa County.
