Elda Shine, 90, of Amana and formerly of Victor, died on Saturday, January 7, 2023, at Compass Memorial Hospital in Marengo.

A funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, January 12, 2023 at St. James Lutheran Church in Victor. Interment will be in Victor Memorial Cemetery. A luncheon will follow at St. James Lutheran Church.

Visitation will begin at 2:00 pm on Wednesday, January 11th at the Smith Funeral Home in Victor and her family will receive friends from 5:00 pm until 7:00 pm.

Elda Amanda Wardenburg was born the daughter of Adolf and Minnie (Glandorf) Wardenburg on April 17,1932 near Williamsburg, Iowa. She was raised near Williamsburg and she attended school at St. Paul Lutheran School until the 8th grade and graduated from Williamsburg High School in 1950.

Elda was united in marriage to Raymond Shine on September 3, 1950 at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Williamsburg. The couple was blessed with three daughters: Nancy, Judy, and Diane. They raised their family near Victor and Elda worked as a cook at HLV schools and later as a cook at Brookhaven Care Center in Brooklyn.

Elda was a longtime member of St. James Lutheran Church in Victor, where she was a choir member and served on the Ladies Aide committee. She later attended St. Stephens Lutheran Church in Atkins, IA. Her enjoyments were cooking, music, attending church and bible study, and gardening. Her greatest joy and love was her family.

Elda is survived by three daughters, Nancy Wilcox of Victor, IA, Judy Behounek of Blairstown, IA, and Diane (Jeff) Trasak of Atkins, IA; two grandchildren, Joseph and Joshua Wilcox of Victor, IA; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Raymond Shine in 1990; brother, Harvey Wardenburg; sisters, Irma Dellamuth, Edna Faas, and Selma Plotz; sister-in-law, Maxine Wardenburg, brother-in-laws, Eugene Plotz, Dairyl Faas, and Glen Dellamuth and son-in-law, Terry Wilcox.
