Hazel Marie Cobb, 95, of North English, went to be with the Lord Jan. 1, 2023, at her home in North English.

Hazel is survived by a granddaughter, Jennie (Tim) Reeves; great-granddaughter, Rachael Reeves of Knoxville, Iowa; great-granddaughter, Hazel (Colton) Rabe, great-great-granddaughter, Maise Rabe, and great-great-grandson, Grady Rabe, of Blairstown, Iowa; a great-grandson, Beck Bouslog of Oceanside, Calif.; and many nieces and nephews.

Hazel was preceded in death by her husband Glen Cobb; daughters, Glenalee Anderson and Mary Bouslog; a son, Robert "Bobby" Cobb; and a grandson, Jared Bouslog.

Hazel was born Aug 24, 1927, to Wayne “Perky” Wade and Jennie Wade in Parnell, Iowa. She moved to North English in 1932 and went to North English High School. She met her husband, Glen, on Main Street in North English and they were engaged before she was out of High School. Glen was drafted and joined the U.S. Navy in 1944, stationed in Ocean View, Va. With their parents’ permission, they were married on March 29, 1945, in the Methodist Church in North English. Hazel went back to Virginia with Glen after their marriage and worked at Annex 2 on the base selling coffee and sandwiches until December of 1945 when Glen was sent to Cuba. At that time, she came back to North English and worked at the Fair Store. When Glen returned home, they farmed for over 40 years in the White Pigeon area. In 1990 they moved to North English. Hazel enjoyed cooking, playing cards, dancing, volunteering to deliver congregate meals, playing the piano by ear, and just staying busy.

Hazel was very grateful for the many friendships she had made in her lifetime. The support from family, the generosity of neighbors, and the love, support and dedication of her husband for over 76 years.

A special thank-you to her amazing caretakers and the Essence of Life Hospice.

A celebration of life will be held at 2 p.m. Jan 7, 2023, at the North English History Center.
