Elsie M. Sayers, age 84, of Middle Amana, passed away at her home surrounded by her family, on Thursday, December 22, 2022. Funeral service: 10:00 A.M., Tuesday, December 27, 2022, at the Middle Amana Church, Middle Amana with Elder Mike Shoup officiating. Burial will be at the Middle Amana Cemetery, Middle Amana. Visitation: 3 to 7 P.M., Monday, December 26, 2022, at the Middle Amana Church, Middle Amana. Memorials may be directed to the Amana Church Society. Kloster Funeral Home, Marengo is assisting the family with arrangements.

Elsie is survived by her children Cindy (Kevin) Walter, Dan (Chris) Hollrah, and J. Brian (Lorrie) Hollrah; six grandchildren Lacie (Tim) Blattner, Abbie (Taylor) Maxfield, Rebecca Hollrah, Anneli (Tim) Ginader, and Sara and Andrea Hollrah; five great-grandchildren Gavin and Nora Blattner, Raylen Maxfield and Lucy and Henry Ginader; and her sister Marlene Trumpold.

Also surviving Elsie is the Mac Sayers family, Vicki (Bob) Davidson, Jim (Vanessa) Sayers, Carla (Chuck) Myers, Adda Sayers (Therese Judge), Susan Bell, Nancee (Dale) Herman, and Justin (Sheila) Sayers; 16 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and 2 great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; the love of her life Mac Sayers, her former husband Duane Hollrah, and her brother-in-law Melvin Trumpold.

Elsie Marie Hahn was born October 29, 1938, in Middle Amana, Iowa, the daughter of William G. and Susanna M. Reihmann Hahn. She graduated from Amana high school with the class of 1956. Elsie was a lifelong member of the Amana Church, and a multi-generational Sunday school teacher. She was secretary and the “go to girl” for the Amana Elementary School for many years. Elsie enjoyed playing the piano, gardening, and baking cookies. She was known for her family dinner nights she held every Wednesday, never having a stranger at the table. Elsie especially enjoyed spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
