Christopher “Chris” David Roher, 60, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, formerly of Anamosa, Iowa, and Decorah, Iowa, passed away peacefully and surrounded by his family on Wednesday, December 21, 2022, at St. Luke’s Hospital in Cedar Rapids. In agreement with his wishes, cremation has taken place and a celebration of Chris’ life is being planned for a later date in Decorah, Iowa. Inurnment will be held at St. Benedict’s Catholic Cemetery in Decorah at a later date.

Chris was born on April 4, 1962, in Decorah, Iowa, the son of David Milo and Julie May (Spalding) Roher. He was a 1980 graduate of Anamosa High School. Chris went on to serve honorably in the United States Marines. During his service, Chris became disabled. Upon discharge, he worked as an Airline Mechanic in Texas and California. In 1982, Chris was united in marriage to Darla Losee in Decorah. They had two children, a son, Chad; and a daughter, Holly. Chris and Darla later divorced. In 1999, Chris married Dalene Casky in Williamsburg, Iowa and they also eventually divorced.

After Chris moved back to Iowa, he was employed with the Cedar Rapids Post Office and the V.A. Hospital in Iowa City. Chris’ first passion was airplanes and working on them. His second passion was horses and loved horseback riding. He was a loyal and faithful fan of the Kansas City Chiefs. Chris will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.

Chris is survived and lovingly remembered by his son, Chad Losee of Riceville, Iowa; daughter, Holly Roher (Lucas Purkapile) also of Riceville; three granddaughters, Mya, Arabella, and Scarlett; two grandsons, Hunter, and Jaxtyn; his mother, Julie Stufflebeam of Cedar Rapids; three siblings, Lori Fitzpatrick of Cokato, Minnesota, Daniel (Kelly) Roher of Monticello, Iowa, and Andrea (Brett) Koranda of Cedar Rapids; a host of nieces and nephews; and a beloved and faithful companion, his dog, “Mabel”.

He was preceded in death by his paternal and maternal grandparents; father, David Roher; younger brother, Anthony Roher; and his stepfather, Herbert M. Stufflebeam, Sr. on October 11, 2022.

In lieu of flowers, memorials in Chris’ memory may be directed to either D.A.V. Transportation for Veterans, American Diabetes Association; or to the family to be designated later.
