Lyle A. Collingwood, 80, of Fairfax, Iowa, passed away at the Hiawatha Care Center and moved on to his eternal heavenly home, on Friday, Dec. 2, 2022, surrounded by his loving family, and the music of hymns. A visitation will be held at the Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home on Thursday, Dec. 8, 2022, from 4 to 8 p.m. A funeral service will be held at Trinity Lutheran Church on Friday, Dec. 9, 2022, at 10:30 a.m. with Pastor John Dolde officiating. Interment will follow at the Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery.

Lyle was born on March 2, 1942, in Williamsburg, Iowa. He was the son of the late Gerald and Doris (Bickford) Collingwood. Lyle had an adventuresome spirit, a passion for racing and Harley motorcycles, a love for animals, and was an enthusiastic football fan. He spent his career as an electrical engineer in Government Avionics at Rockwell Collins. In his younger years, Lyle owned and operated the Harley Hospital in Fairfax, Iowa. On June 26, 1976, Lyle married the love of his life, Sherry Van Dee in Marengo, Iowa.

Those left to cherish Lyle’s memory are his wife, Sherry of Fairfax, Iowa; his children, Daniel (Britt) Collingwood of Meridian, Idaho, David (Jacque) Collingwood of Anamosa, Iowa, and Christina (Chris) Adams, of Marion, Iowa; his grandchildren, Ethan, Kaylin, Krystin Collingwood; Eleanor and Willow Adams; and his brother, Les (Rosie) Collingwood of Marengo, Iowa.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his brothers, Dale and Larry Collingwood, and nephew Treb Collingwood.

The family would like to thank the entire staff at the Hiawatha Care Center for all the compassionate love and support they showed Lyle and his family, while he was in their care.
