Ramona Marz was born January 8, 1930, in her home in Homestead, where she lived her entire life. She is the daughter of the late Fritz L. and Ella W. (Miller) Marz. She graduated from Amana High School in 1949 and continued her education at the Davenport Business College. Ramona was united in marriage to Glenn Hoppe on August 25, 1951 at St. John’s Lutheran Church, Marengo. Ramona worked at Amana Refrigeration as a receptionist and switchboard operator. Later she worked at several local wineries. Ramona was a lifelong member of St. John’s Lutheran Church, Marengo. She taught Sunday School for many years, was a member of the Ladies Aid as well as the quilting group. Ramona was also a member of the Amana Society, the Homestead Welfare Group and was a contributing artist of the Amana Arts Guild Gallery.

She enjoyed stitching and quilting, was an avid gardener and avid Iowa Hawkeye football and basketball fan. Ramona was a very giving, energetic person and a delight to be around. Her gift wrapping skills were a “work of art”. She never knew a stranger. Ramona's firm faith in the Lord, courage and steadfast love was an example and gift to us all. She will be missed by many.

1 Corinthians 16:13-14 Be on your guard; stand firm in the faith; be courageous; be strong. Do everything in love.
