Connie S. Roth, age 72, of Middle Amana, formerly of Brooklyn, passed away Sunday, August 7, 2022 at Compass Memorial Healthcare, Marengo, after a five year, courageous battle with ALS. A funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m., Friday, August 12, 2022 at the Michael J. Manatt Community Center, in Brooklyn, Iowa with Ed and Marcia Kinkade officiating. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m., Thursday, August 11, 2022 at Kloster Funeral Home, Brooklyn, Iowa. Burial will be in the Ivy Hill Cemetery, Malcom, Iowa. Memorials may be contributed in Connie’s name to the ALS Association, www.als.org/donate.

Connie is survived by her longtime companion, John Meyer, of Brooklyn; her two children Tony (Stacey) Roth, of Grinnell and Tracy (Dave) Monthy, of Clarion; six grandchildren, Ryan (Rachel) Pierce, Nikki (Tyler) Harter, Scotty (Hannah) Pierce, Zach (Alisha) Kochuyt, Ashley Kochuyt and Allisha (John) McKimmy; sixteen great-grandchildren, Rylee, Bailee, Mason, Miriam, Haydlee, Colston, Jecoby, Hattie, Millie, Izabella, Kanyan, Zoey, Summer, Beau, Benntley and Brody; nine siblings, Larry (Julie) Grier, Bonnie Ryan, Rhonda Austin, Barb Grier, Gary (Rita) Grier, Marcia (Ed) Kinkade, Dennis Grier, Tom (Laurie) Grier and Terry (Sherry) Grier; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents Jack and Carolyn Grier, her grandparents, a brother Roger Grier, a sister Donna Grier and her former husband Laverne Roth.

Connie Sue Grier was born April 25, 1950, in Grinnell, the daughter of Jack and Carolyn (Rauch) Grier. She graduated from BGM High School in 1968. She was united in marriage to Laverne Roth. Of this union, they were blessed with two children, Tony and Tracy. Connie and Laverne later divorced. She met John Meyer in 1981, sharing many happy memories together.

Connie moved to Middle Amana in 2002 where she was employed at Amana Refrigeration for 35 years until she retired in 2012. She enjoyed bowling, watching NASCAR racing and going to the Iowa Speedway. Connie also enjoyed going to the Iowa State Fair and camping there for the duration as well as camping other places. She loved her second home at the Meskwaki Casino. Connie especially loved spending time with her family, taking family trips with to the Wisconsin Dells and her 70th birthday trip to Las Vegas and attending the grandchildren’s school events and life celebrations.
