Donald James Hopp was born December 30, 1941 to Elmer and Luella (James) Hopp in Williamsburg, Iowa. He entered into his heavenly rest on November 14, 2021.

He was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his loving wife, Janet Carol Hopp. On June 19, 2021 they celebrated 57 years of marriage.

He is also survived by his two daughters, sons-in-law, and six beautiful grandchildren. Eva and Brandon Clark (Norah, Claire, and Bennett) of Springfield, Missouri and Amanda and Matt Bears (Amelia, Wyatt, and Ellie) of Auxvasse, Missouri.

He is also survived by his sister and brother-in-law, Luanne and Jerry Heffelfinger of Mingo, Iowa and their two children Jeff and Jeri Ann Heffelfinger and their families.

He graduated with a bachelor's in music education from Truman State University and received his master's degree in vocal music performance from Eastern Michigan University in Ypsilanti, Michigan. He was a vocal music and voice teacher.

He was an active member of Abundant Life Church in Springfield, Missouri for 40 years. Recently, he served as a volunteer in a small group and enjoyed being a greeter on Sunday mornings.

He and his wife lived in Republic, Missouri for 37 years and more recently moved and have enjoyed their home in Nixa, Missouri. He loved being retired and working in the yard, reading his Bible every day, watching The Chosen series over and over, and singing from a hymnal that was close to his chair for easy access.

He also enjoyed bowling and fishing for a good part of his life and loved watching his daughters and grandchildren play sports. He made an impact on all who knew him.

A celebration of life service will take place on Saturday, November 20 at 10:00 AM. at Abundant Life Church, 3531 S. Scenic Ave., Springfield, MO.
