Donnette Lynn Gossen, 73, of Belle Plaine died on August 8, 2021, at Compass Memorial Healthcare in Marengo.
Funeral services are scheduled for 10:30 a.m. Saturday, August 14th, at the Smith Funeral Home in Grinnell led by Stephen Scott, Branch President of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. Pallbearers will be Ryon Gary, Tom Lynn, David Seaborn, Gab and Garette Sparks, and Tyler White. Honorary bearers will be Rick Sparks, Dennis Wathen and Marvin Wilson. Burial will be in Westfield Cemetery, south of Grinnell.
The Gossen family will receive friends one hour (9:30 a.m.) prior to the service at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be designated to Stevens-Johnson Syndrome Foundation, P.O. Box 350333, Westminster, Colorado 80035.

The service will be “Live-streamed” on the Smith Funeral Home Facebook page beginning at 10:15 a.m.
Donnette was born on December 9, 1947, in Belle Plaine, the daughter of Donald LeRoy and Irene Alice Harrah Hamilton. She was raised in Grinnell and was a 1966 graduate of Grinnell High School. She attended Central College in Pella.

On October 1, 1972, she was united in marriage to Lynn Gossen, in Grinnell; a union of 49 years! The couple continued to make Grinnell their home while she was employed with G.T.E until 1975. The couple lived in multiple places while Lynn served in the United States Navy. During this time period, Donnette stayed home to raise her two sons. They moved to Belle Plaine in 1992.

Donnette was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints; she held a strong faith in Jesus. She was a strong-willed mother and held a loving and compassionate care for her family. She was a Cub Scout Den Mother, a Sunday school teacher and held a passion for working with children. Donnette enjoyed arts and crafts, including making Christmas ornaments, towels for all the holidays and seasonal events, working with leather, and doll making with various clothing styles. She was an avid reader and enjoyed solving cross word and Sudoku puzzles.

Survivors include her husband, Lynn of Belle Plaine; two sons, Shawn (Michelle) Gossen of Cedar Rapids and Craig Gossen of Belle Plaine; three grandchildren. Abbey, Avery and Aidan Gossen; two sisters, Kandy (Marvin) Wilson and Shanna (Dennis) Wathen, both of Grinnell; and one brother Dusty (Linda) Hamilton of Grinnell. She was preceded in death by her parents; two children in infancy, Todd Michael Gossen in 1979 and Kari Lynn Gossen in 1984; and one brother, Ronald Hamilton in 2020.
