Melvin Leroy Allison died on Saturday, July 3, 2021 at the VA Hospital in Iowa City at the age of 86 years.

Celebration of Life Service will be held at 11:00 am on Wednesday, July 7, 2021 at the Powell Funeral Home in North English. Burial will be in the Piersol Cemetery, rural North English. Visitation will be held on Wednesday from 10:00 am until service time.

Memorials may be give to the Iowa County Health Department. Messages and tributes may be left at www.powellfuneralhomes.com.

Melvin Leroy Allison was born July 15, 1934 in Creston, Iowa, the son of Clarence Lyman and Vera (Adamson) Allison. He attended Creston High School. Melvin served in the US Army from 1955-1958, he then transferred to the US Reserves where he served over 30 years. On October 11, 1959 Melvin was united in marriage to Wanda Shirley Lamb in Creston.

He worked in a factory for many years and owned and operated S & A Autobody. Melvin was a member of the North English United Methodist Church and the Old Capital Coin Club. He enjoyed collecting coins, hunting, fishing, going to the casinos, wintering in Arizona, traveling and going for drives with Shirley.

He is survived by his wife Shirley of North English; 3 children Randy (Tina) Allison of Warsaw, MO, Sharon (Dale) Cline of Kent, and Mark (Renee) Allison of North English; 12 grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren; 4 sisters-in-law Norma Thompson and Faye Leeps both of Thayer and Mary Lamb and Fern Lamb both of Cottonwood, Arizona; and many nieces, nephews and friends.

He was preceded by his parents; 3 sisters Oralee (Bob) Fulton, Eva (Jim) Ludon and Wilma (Bill) Gilman; a brother Larry Allison; and 2 brothers-in-law Donald and Dale Lamb.
