Evelyn Marie Cover was born on January 25, 1923 in Millersburg, Iowa to Charles and Alma (Faas) Schaffner. She was raised in the Millersburg area and graduated from Millersburg High School in 1942. After graduating high school, Evelyn worked by helping her family with housekeeping and child care.

She met the love of her life, Harley Cover, through a mutual friend. They were married July 18, 1943 at the home of her parents in Millersburg. After marriage she was a homemaker, a Sunday school teacher, a lifetime member of the Millersburg United Methodist Church, a member of the Millersburg VFW Auxiliary, a 4H leader and later worked at Owen's Brush. The couple moved to Cedar Rapids in 1965 where she worked at Killians Department Store until she retired. In 2000, they moved back home to the Millersburg area.

Evelyn enjoyed gardening, the garden club, traveling, taking pictures and working on family history books. She especially loved her time with family and visits from friends. Evelyn died on Tuesday, March 2, 2021 at the English Valley Care Center in North English at the age of 98 years.

Evelyn will be forever cherished and remembered by her children Phyllis (Ron) Kinzler and Gordon (Janet) Cover; six grandchildren Shari (Joel) Schnebbe, Lonnie (Carol) Kinzler, Dennis (Leanne) Kinzler, Neal (Laurie) Kinzler, Gregory (Lisa) Cover and John (Cindy) Cover; twenty one great grandchildren; eighteen great-great grandchildren; a sister Charlene McIntyre; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Harley Cover; her sisters Velma McDowell, Naomi Voelkel and Arva Border; and a brother Cloyd Schaffner.

A private family service will be held at the Powell Funeral Home in North English. The service will be live streamed on the Powell Funeral Home Facebook page and website. Burial will be in the Millersburg Cemetery.
