Phyllis Shull, age 93, of Williamsburg, formerly of North English, died Friday, March 6, 2020, at Mercy Hospital in Iowa City.

Funeral service was held at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, March 9, 2020, at Powell Funeral Home in North English, with Pastor Luke Caster officiating. Burial was at North English Cemetery. Visitation was from 2:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. on Sunday, March 8, 2020, at the funeral home.

A memorial fund has been established for the North English Community Center. Powell Funeral Home and Cremation Service in North English is caring for Phyllis and her family. Tributes may be made at www.powellfuneralhomes.com.

Phyllis was born October 4, 1926, in North English, to Charles (Chod) and Margaret (Williams) Dixon and graduated from North English High School. On August 31, 1945, she married Elmer (Buck) Shull in North English.

Phyllis worked at the North English Creamery, Brown's Café, candled eggs at Kirkpatrick Produce and worked at the Maid Rite before becoming a custodian at the University of Iowa, where she worked for 20 years. Buck passed away in 2003 and Phyllis moved to Williamsburg in 2004. She enjoyed making friends, playing cards, Bingo, reading, puzzle books and chocolate ice cream.

Survivors include three children: Diana (Dave) Tjornehoj of Longmont, CO, Ronald (Robin) Shull of Washington and Shari (Dave) Hook of Williamsburg; seven grandchildren: Jeffry Tjornehoj, Jonathan Tjornehoj, Jennifer Katalinch, Heather Moen, Jason Shull, Ashley Hartman and Adam Hook and several great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents and husband Elmer (Buck) Shull.
