Anita Border, age 97 of Victor, died on Wednesday, October 23, 2019 at Highland Ridge Care Center in Williamsburg.

A funeral service was held at 10:00 am on Tuesday, October 29, 2019 at the Victor Baptist Church. Interment was at Ohio Cemetery near Ladora. A reception followed in the fellowship hall at the Victor Baptist Church.

Visitation began at 2:00 pm at the Smith Funeral Home in Victor and her family received friends from 5:00 pm until 7:00 pm,

Anita Fay Maudlin was born the daughter of Lloyd Zell Maudlin and Effie Lenora (Vick) Maudlin on August 22, 1922 in Miles City, Montana. Her family moved to Ladora, Iowa when she was 10 years old, where she was raised on the family farm. She graduated from Ladora High School with the class of 1940.

Anita was united in marriage to Audrey Border on August 5. 1940 at the Ohio Methodist Church near Ladora. Their union was blessed with four children: Zelda, Linda, Steve and Bob. They farmed near Ladora for several years and Anita also worked as a cook at area restaurants.

Anita’s family and faith were most important to her. She enjoyed tending to her large garden, canning, sewing, crocheting and reading. She will be remembered for being kind, loving, caring, and selfless, and for the strong love of her family.

Anita is survived by her children, Zelda Border of Clarksville, Tennessee, Linda Drake of El Cajon, California, Steve (Diane) Border of Victor, and Bob (Ann) Border of Victor; 11 grandchildren; 18 great grandchildren; and one great great grandchild. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Audrey Border in 2003; and four brothers, Lloyd, Dale, John and Jay Maudlin.
