Judy Gjerde age 50 Maquoketa, Iowa died Tuesday morning June 11 2002 as the result of injuries received in automobile accident 1 mile west of Grand Mound Iowa on Highway 30.

Funeral Services will be held at 11 A.M. Monday June 17, 2002 from the First Lutheran Church in Maquoketa Iowa. Bishop Philip Hougen of the Southeastern Iowa Synod of the Evangelical Lutheran Church of America will Preside. Pastor Pamela Schroeder of the First Lutheran Church in Maquoketa Iowa will be Assisting.

Visitation will be held from 2 to 7 P.M. on Sunday June 16 2002 at the Carson & Son Funeral And Cremation Services in Maquoketa Iowa. Burial will be in the Mount Hope Cemetery Maquoketa Iowa.

Judy Gjerde was born on August 19 1951 in Williamsburg Iowa to Orlen Imhoff and Lora Doehrmann Imhoff. She was a 1969 graduate of Williamsburg High School and then attended Wartburg College receiving her B.A. Degree in 1973. She then received her Masters in Education from Drake University in Des Moines. She married Gerald Gjerde on June 15, 1974 in Williamsburg Iowa.

Mrs. Gjerde had first been a German teacher at Fred Moore Junior High School in Anoka Minnesota. She then taught Spanish at Preston High School from 1986 to 1987. She then became the Spanish teacher at Maquoketa Community High School from 1987 to present.

She was a member of the First Lutheran Church in Maquoketa P.E.O. and had been a member and past president of the Maquoketa Education Association. She was also a member of the First Lutheran Church Bell Choir as well the associate organist and pianist of First Lutheran Church for the past 22 years. She had also directed the First Lutheran Church Senior Choir from 1990 to present. She enjoyed playing the piano and organ flower gardening teaching and walking.

She is Survived by: Her Husband- Rev. Gerald Gjerde of Maquoketa IA; 1 Son- Ryan Gjerde of Decorah IA; 1 Daughter- Jill Gjerde at home; Her Parents- Orlen & Lora Imhoff of Williamsburg IA; 2 Sisters- Cindy(Mrs. Steve) DeBerg of Glenview IL & Ruth Haby of Lafayette IN; & 1 Brother- Mark(Gloria) Imhoff of Williamsburg IA. She was preceded in death by 1 infant twin sister- Jane.

The family requests memorials be made to First Lutheran Church in Maquoketa.
