Charleen Mary Mumby Foster, age 83 of Grinnell, formerly of Marengo, died Thursday, August 1, 2019 at the Mayflower Health Center in Grinnell.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Monday, August 5, 2019 at the First United Methodist Church, Marengo, with Pastor Jim Davis officiating. Burial will be in the Zion Cemetery, Ladora.

Visitation: 3 to 6 p.m., Sunday, August 4, 2019 at Kloster Funeral Home, Marengo. Memorials may be given in CHarleen’s name. online condolences may be left at www.klosterfuneralhome.com ..

Charleen Smith was born January 14, 1936, in Williamsburg, the daughter of Charles Henry and Vera Elizabeth Katherine (Weisskopf) Smith. She attended country schools and graduated from Ladora High School.

She married Lloyd Keith Mumby on June 24, 1955 and of this union, were blessed with four daughters. The couple made their home in Iowa County where they farmed until Keith’s passing in 1990. She later married Gerald Foster in 1996 and they made their home in Marengo.

Charleen was a 50 year member of the Marengo United Methodist Church, the Ladora Saddle Club for many years, a charter member of Mid Iowa Driving Association, the Friendship Club, Iowa River Campers, Over 60 Club and Happy Homemakers Club.

She enjoyed all of her family very much and loved having them “Home” for visits. Charleen loved cooking for them, going on camping trips with them, and playing cards and games with the grandchildren and friends.

She also enjoyed going to all of her grandkids activities at school and church. In the later years, Charleen liked to go fishing with her husband Gerald and family.

Charleen is survived by her daughters Betty (Tom) Harp, of Ladora, Debbie (Denny) Bunn, of Sedalia, MO, Mary (Gary) Daharsh, of Lincoln, NE, and Patti (Doug) Selk, of Grinnell; grandchildren Branden (DeAnn) Harp and Brady Harp, of Ladora, Brian Mumby, of Sedalia, MO, Jason Selk and Cory (Robin) Selk, of Grinnell and Amber (Maurice) Speirs, of Newton; great-grandchildren Kira and Logan Mumby, of MO, Hayden and Rhett Selk, and a sister on the way, of Grinnell, Lincoln Selk-Johnson and Teagan Speirs, of Newton; step-children Rick Foster, of Gladbrook, Randy Foster, of NM, Rod Foster, of Malcom, LeRoy (Diane) Foster, of Malcom, Scott (Jenny) Foster, of TX, Shelley (Karlin) Kelley, of NE; step grandchildren Allison (Bret) Draper, of Grundy Center, Kyle (Kate) Kelley, of Lincoln, NE, Natasha (Kyle) Ogden, of Bennington, NE, Tanner Foster, of Ladora and Tucker Foster of Malcom; also surviving are many other step grandchildren, step great-grandchildren, cousins, nieces and nephews, and close friends.

She is preceded in death by her parents, a sister Betty, husbands Lloyd Keith Mumby in 1990 and Gerald Foster in 2002, a granddaughter Melinda Bennington, a great-grandson Damon Mack, sons-in-law Dan Bluemle and Harlan Briggs, a brother-in-law Garry Mumby and a sister-in-law Hila Grieder who was like a sister to her.
