Williamsburg-Derald Arthur Glandorf was born the son of Arthur and Meta (Wardenburg) Glandorf on a farm east of Williamsburg, Iowa, on July 25, 1932. He was baptized and confirmed at Immanuel Lutheran Church near Williamsburg. Derald was united in marriage to June Madeline Woodrum on September 3, 1955 at Immanuel Lutheran Church. To this union they were blessed with two sons and two daughters. He worked as a farmer and truck driver, working for Homestead Implement, Glandorf Trucking, Oxford Beverage, Dieomatic Trucking and Circle J Grain until his retirement. Derald enjoyed traveling and wintering in Arizona and Texas, playing softball, sheepshead, racing remote race cars and most of all he truly enjoyed watching his children and grandchildren in all their sports and 4-H activities. He was an avid follower of the Chicago Cubs, Bears and Iowa Hawkeyes. Derald passed away Tuesday, January 30, 2018, at the Highland Ridge Care Center at the age of 85 years.
He is survived by his wife: June of Williamsburg; three children: Steven (Liisa) Glandorf of Georgetown, Texas, Kimberly (Michael) Jackson of Grandview, Texas and Todd (Teresa) Glandorf of Georgetown, Texas; a son-in-law: Patrick Donohoe of Parnell; 8 grandchildren: Amanda (Dean) Morgan, Travis Jackson, Rachel (Colt) McCoy, Joshua Glandorf, Jarett Donohoe, Jacob Donohoe, Justin Donohoe and Tyler Glandorf; 5 great grandchildren: Trey Morgan, Leighton Morgan, Ruby Morgan, Sloane McCoy and Brooke McCoy; a brother-in-law: Roger Haerther of Shellsburg. He was preceded in death by his parents, daughter: Lynette July 30, 2011 and two sisters: LaDean Haerther and Rosa Posekany.
Celebration of Life Service will be 10:30 am Saturday, February 3, 2018, at the Immanuel Lutheran Church near Williamsburg. Burial will be in the Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4:00 to 7:00 pm on Friday at the Powell Funeral Home in Williamsburg. Memorial are for Immanuel Lutheran Church.
