Larry was born Nov. 26, 1921, the son of Bernard F. and Clara (Murrin) Murphy, in Parnell, Iowa. He was united in marriage to Agnes Brophy on Sept. 27, 1947, in Riverside. Larry served our country proudly during World War II in the United States Navy Seabees. "Murph" was employed at the former Voss Bros. Allied Van Lines as a salesman, retiring in 1986.
Larry loved the church and was an active and devoted parishioner at St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church in Davenport. He was also a 3rd Degree member of Knights of Columbus and a member of
the Parnell American Legion. Larry enjoyed traveling and playing bridge but his greatest joy in life came from spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorials be made to either St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church or Assumption High School or a favorite charity of choice.Cedar Rapids Gazette
