Newspaper Obituary: April 29, 1952 Dr. Pettibone Burial Today - Well Known Sidney Dentist Died Suddenly Tuesday.

Dr. Milton E. Pettibone, 69, who has practiced dentistry in Sidney since 1920, died suddenly Tuesday while visiting at the home of relatives in Madison, Nebraska. Cause of his death was given as a heart attack.

Funeral services will be held at 2:30 o'clock this (Friday) afternoon in the Methodist Church of Sidney with the Rev. Harold B. Taylor of light Memorial Presbyterian Church in charge. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery under the direction of The Craig Mortuary and Masonic rites will be conducted at the grave side.

Dentists of Sidney and surrounding area will serve as honorary pallbearers. Active pallbearers will be Ward Johnson, Rae Jones, Warren Cunningham, M.W. Osborn, Leo Osborn and A.F. Whitmire.

Milton E. Pettibone was born September 24, 1882, at North English, Iowa. He was graduated from Creighton Dental college in Omaha in 1909 and on September 14, 1910, was married to Miss Maude Davis at Madison, Nebraska. He practiced dentistry at Butte, O'Neill, and Norfolk, Nebraska, before coming to Sidney on May 9, 1920.

Highly respected in the dental profession, Dr. Pettibone was active in the Gold Foil Dental Study Group of Northeastern Nebraska. For a number of years he served as an instructor for this group in Denver.

He joined the Presbyterian Church in 1912, and has been an active member of Light Memorial Presbyterian Church in Sidney. He joined the Masonic Lodge at O'Neill on January 21, 1915, transferring his membership to Sidney when he moved here. He became a member of the Order of Eastern Star in 1917 and also transferred to the Sidney chapter of that organization. Dr. Pettibone was a past master of the Masons and a past worthy patron of the OES.

Survivors are his widow, two sisters, Mrs.E.L. Riddell of Laurel, Montana, and Mrs. Mancil Hostetler of Asotin, Washington, two nieces and two nephews.
