"BEDFAST 2 WEEKS, MRS. SCHWARTING DIED WEDNESDAY

Williamsburg: Mrs. Mary Schwarting, who has been in failing health about 1 1/2 years and bedfast two weeks, died Wednesday, July 8, from complications following surgery. She entered the University hospital at Iowa City June 27 and submitted to surgery that night.

As Mary Lorenz, the daughter of Jacob and Katrine Ehlen Lorenz, she was born Apr. 24, 1884. Her early life was spent on a farm in Iowa township. She attended St. John's Lutheran school, near Homestead.

On Oct. 1, 1903, she was married to Charles Schwarting in the Immanuel Lutheran church, York township. Mrs. Schwarting died in the spring of 1932.

She was a member of St. John's church until the time of her marriage when she became affiliated with the Immanuel Lutheran church. Since 1943 she has been a member of St. Paul's Lutheran church, Williamsburg.

Mrs. Schwarting was the mother of three daughters; Mrs. Frank Martinson, Conroy; Mrs. J.C. VerCande and Mrs. Wayne Teggatz; and one son,Anton Schwarting of Van Horne, all of whom survive.

Funeral services for Mrs. Schwarting were Saturday in St. Paul's Lutheran church with the Rev. H.T. Rosenberg officiating. The ladies choir of the church and the congregation sang. B.D. Dieckhoff was organist.

Casket carriers were LeRoy Lorenz, Anton Lorenz, Orville Teggatz, Henry Wille, Paul Schwarting and Clifford Schwarting. Burial was in the Immanuel Lutheran cemetery in York township."
