OBITUARY, Des Moines Sunday Register, Jan 5, 1975:

"R. SIMMONS, 25 Died Saturday at Brookhaven

Ronald Lloyd Simmons, 25, died Saturday, Dec. 28, 1974 at Brookhaven Nursing Home, Brooklyn where he had been a resident four years.

Prayer service was held at Hoover-Valentine funeral home at 7 p.m. Monday with the Rev. Duane O'Tool officiating. Mrs. Jake Valentine provided the music.

Private committal service was held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday. Burial was in Marengo cemetery. Pallbearers were James R., Robert A. jr. and William Charles Simmons, all brothers, and Rick Ringler.

Born at Iowa City Aug. 6, 1949 he was the son of Robert A. and Lillian W. Furlong Simmons. He had been physically and mentally retarded all his life.

Survivors in addition to his parents are three brothers, James R., William Charles and Robert A. Simmons jr; two sisters Mrs. Nick (Mary Jane) Roggentien and Joan Ann Simmons and grandparents, the Lloyd Simmons', all Marengo."
