'FORMER RESIDENT DIES IN ILLINOIS

Ira E. Bean, 64, brother of Mrs. Lloyd Simmons of this city, died Friday in an Evanston, Ill., hospital. He had been ill for the past four weeks.

Funeral services were held Tuesday at Pawpaw, Ill., with burial at Compton, Ill.

Mr. Bean was born Dec. 4, 1884, at Genoa Bluffs, the son of John W. and Hattie S. Bean. He attended the rural schools and was married to Lena Johnson. They made their home in Ladora for a number of years, moving to Grinnell and later to Newton, where Mr. Bean was employed by the Maytag company. In 1946 they left Newton going to Arizona for a short time. Since then they have made their home with their sons in Chicago.

Surviving besides his wife are two sons, Floyd and Ronald of Chicago, one sister, Mrs. Lloyd Simmons of Marengo and two granddaughters. His parents, two brothers and one sister preceded him in death."
